AFTER THE BATTLE
by Robert Taylor
This limited edition of only 1000 is a special tribute to the immortal Spitfire
and the pilots from all nations who flew it. The painting shows a flight of
MkIX Spitfires, generally considered to have been the greatest of all Spitfire
marks, returning to their RAF base at Kenley in July, 1942. High on adrenalin
after a dog fight with German Fw190s over France, the 611 Squadron pilots make
their high speed run for home above the distinctive patchwork fields of Southern
England. A truly magnificent aviation art print that does perfect justice to
the legendary subject portrayed. The print is signed by six combat fighter pilots
who flew the Spitfire with great distinction during World War II. They are:
Squadron Leader Paddy Barthropp, Squadron Leader Neville Duke, Air Vice Marshall
Johnnie Johnson, Wing Commander Harbourne Stephen, Air Commodore Sir Archie
Winskill and Group Captain Alan Wright.
