CANBERRAS OVER CAMBRIDGESHIRE
by Robert Taylor
The Canberra, introduced to the public at the Farnborough Air Show in September
1949, Roland Beamont "threw the twin engined bomber around like a fighter",
and two years later again demonstrated the Canberra's agility when delivering
the first operational type to Number 101 Squadron by announcing his arrival
with a five minute aerobatic display. Specially commissioned to commemorate
the 40th anniversary of the first flight of the Canberra, it is appropriate
that Battle of Britain ace, wartime fighter leader and test pilot extraordinaire
Roland Beamont, joins Robert Taylor in signing each individual print. For those
associated with the long history of the Canberra, the acquisition of this limited
print will afford a permanent and highly desirable memento of this remarkable
jet aircraft.
