"Eagles High"
by Robert Taylor
Robert Taylor's "Eagles High" A Commemorative Edition signed &
numbered, 33" X 24" by Robert Taylor Throughout the six years of World War II
the Spitfire and the Messerschmitt Me 109 were locked in combat. In the annals of aerial
conflict no two such evenly matched fighter aircraft ever fought so consistently over such
a sustained period of time, or with more distinction. Small, fast, responsive and highly
maneuverable, the Spitfire was a thoroughbred fighter through and through. The Me109,
rugged, heavily armed, fuel-injected and turbocharged, was a formidable opponent.
In the hands of an experienced pilot, under most conditions each airplane was a close match for the other. Both aircraft flew and fought throughout the war, during which time many of the great Aces in the European Theatres notched up their victories flying one or other of these two immortal fighters.
Federal Galleries is proud to offer "Eagles High" as a special limited edition to commemorate this important event. Each print in the edition is signed by all six distinguished:
Fighter Aces- From the RAF:
Air Vice Marshal Johnnie Johnson
Air Commodore Pete Brothers
Wing Commander Geoffrey Page
From the Luftwaffe:
Adolf Galland
Gunther Rall
Johannes Steinhoff
To celebrate the occasion Robert Taylor has recreated a memorable contest between Spitfires and Me109's high over Southern England early in 1940. "Eagles High" is one of the most significant Taylor prints yet published.
