"First of Many"
by Robert Taylor

Probably the most well-known fighter pilot of all time, Douglas Bader became a legend in his own lifetime. An inspiration and fearless leader, he set high standards and a magnificent example to the younger pilots. Commander of 242 Hurricane Squadron during the Battle of Britain, he typically scored their first victory for himself. On 11 July 1940, the 242 Squadron Commander received notification that a lone enemy aircraft had been sighted off the coast. Bader refused to allow his pilots to attempt to take off in weather conditions officially described as "appalling" and set off alone. Robert Taylor's masterful painting records the moment just before the luckless Dornier's demise. Only 500 in the edition, all are signed by Douglas Bader and Robert Taylor. A "must" for the avid collector.
